Message from the Head of School

Dear DKJA Parents:

I'm pleased to inform you that starting today, you will be receiving a weekly Shabbat Message from me.

While it feels that we are being bombarded with the gloomy news of the economy, the sun is shining here at DKJA. Every day, we look at the beautiful faces of our children, hear them singing tefilah, admire their artwork on the walls, and enjoy watching them as they skip cheerfully through the halls, accompanied by nurturing teachers. Our special educators give them the care and attention they need to grow in so many ways, providing them with an experience that is rich both in academic value and Jewish values. We must remind ourselves of the important things in life, and what to be grateful for, during times such as these.

O
ur school remains strong. Over the past two weeks, we admitted five new students, bringing our enrollment to a record 711.

I hope your children are enjoying their school lunches. While we continue to interview a variety of vendors, Flik, our current vendor, has been very responsive to our concerns. We believe our food program has improved dramatically, and we encourage you to look at the February menu. I believe you and your children will be pleased.

Additionally, our high school seniors are starting to receive letters of acceptance from nationally and internationally renowned colleges and universities, and they also are receiving significant scholarships. We are very proud of our students and encourage you to click on the list below.

As we all know, communication is of the utmost importance. Please don’t hesitate to call me or another Administrator to inquire about rumors you may have heard, or to provide input.

I hope you will join us for the many wonderful upcoming events, like this Sunday’s family-centered strawberry picking event. Click the links below for further details. Remember…You can always check our Website regularly to keep updated.

Shabbat Shalom,
Karen Feller
